Good to know in Georgia
Your health marketplace (Obamacare)
In Georgia, Marketplace health coverage (Obamacare/ACA) is enrolled through Georgia Access, your state's own exchange.
Georgia stopped using healthcare.gov and now has its own marketplace, Georgia Access. It is also one of ten states that did not expand Medicaid, which leaves many low-income adults without an option. Georgia Access
When you can enroll
Open enrollment runs November 1 through January 15. Outside that window you need a qualifying event, such as moving, losing coverage or having a child.
If you have no qualifying event or don’t qualify for financial help, there are private health plans you can sign up for in any month of the year.

Frequently asked questions
Does Georgia Access work for me if I earn below the poverty level?
Probably not, and it is worth knowing before you try. Georgia has its own marketplace, Georgia Access, but it did not expand Medicaid: someone earning below the federal poverty level can end up outside Medicaid and outside the subsidy at once. Per KFF, Georgia accounts for 10% of the people in that gap nationwide. For that case we offer private health plans, from major medical to limited-benefit everyday plans; availability varies by state and we review it at your appointment. If you qualify for a good subsidy, the marketplace is still better.
Where do I enroll in Obamacare in Georgia?
At Georgia Access, the state’s own marketplace. This changed: Georgia used healthcare.gov and now runs its own platform. We help, at no cost.
Why do I qualify for neither Medicaid nor financial help in Georgia?
Georgia is one of ten states that did not expand Medicaid. That leaves a gap: some adults with income below the poverty level qualify for neither Medicaid nor Marketplace help. If that is your case, we review it and look for alternatives.
